Pros: More weapon/squad variety, easier to learn, much more populated, multiple gamemode-variety, and richer gameplay-loop.Ĭons: Repetitive gameplay at times, slightly unoriginal maps, and restrictive map design. Its maps however seem to blend together, though there are some noticeable standouts that have unique gameplay from the other maps (of which there are only 9, same as Tannenberg), the gameplay can sometimes seem repetitive as you tend to spend the long rounds in the same place.īut what it loses in map variety and a repetitive (but fun, and hard to get bored of) gameplay loop, it *more* than makes up for in its vast variety of different weapons, strategies, and squads, the selection for factions is almost triple that of Tannenberg, with a much larger array of weapons to choose from aswell, it's also *much* more populated, with on average 80-150 players online in Frontlines (the main mode), and 2-25 in the Horde mode Squad Defense. Verdun is much more fast-paced and (to a small extent) arcade-y, you can always find where the action is, where to shoot, and everyone is relatively in the same place, so it's not hard to communicate with your team via the Command Wheel. Verdun and Tannenburg are basically two sides of the same coin, they share some of the same weapons, same voice actors, same graphics (pretty much, I only noticed a change in the God-Rays), same Command Wheel, but they do have some features that separate them from each other. Hi! no worries, I can't speak for everyone, but I personally don't mind answering stuff like this. Get Verdun, save up for Isonzo, skip Tannenberg if you don't have much money. Tannenberg has hardly any weapons or factions, and though it's much less repetitive, and the maps are more distinct from one another with more strategies and replayability, the lack of weapons and factions counter-acts these pros and brings it down. TL DR: Verdun has more weapons, factions, and modes, and even though it can get repetitive at times, you can always find ways to spice it up and keep having fun. It all comes together to evoke the feeling of actually being there in the muddy trenches of the Western Front or the snow covered forests of the Eastern Front, in the middle of one of the largest wars in history. Everything in the game has been tailored to recreate the grim atmosphere so typical of WW1, from the immersive interface and war torn maps to realistic sounds and voices. Uniforms have been recreated to the tiniest detail, the weapons are modeled to exact references and the maps use realistic props and terrain layouts. The developers have carried out extensive research and were advised by knowledgeable historians to make sure the individual elements in their games are as historically accurate as it can get. These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines. The 1914-1918 WW1 Game Series currently includes Verdun and Tannenberg (set on the Eastern Front). Verdun Player Stats If you make a post about anything concerning players, such as a request for squad-mates or Clans, please mention the server you play on, as this will help avoid confusion. Sorry mate.Verdun, the best WWI experience gaming has to offer Links: And with that, I’d like to send my apologies to the random squadmate who startled me that one time. Just be careful not to shoot your team because friendly fire exists. The sound effects are great though, and the game nails spatial audio: entering a cabin muffles everything outside, but you can hear very easily if someone is inside with you. I hate to admit how catchy it was, but with how long the loading screens can be between matches, you might go just a tiny bit insane. The loading screen music is the same two bars over and over again. The only real gripe against Tannenberg is the music. The game also features realistic gore and wounds, but if you’re squeamish, you can always turn the gore down or off. Instead of being on the western front, Tannenberg is based on the eastern front and the fight on that side of Europe, with a large variety of playstyles, different maps and terrains, even historically accurate weapons and uniforms based on the era. Much like Verdun, Tannenberg ’s multiplayer is made up of a bunch of maps surrounding the battle of Tannenberg in East Prussia during World War I.
